Read the dish before the ticket.
The Peru Travel page on the cuisine of Lima names dozens of dishes. This notebook keeps only the ones that also appear in the inclusion list of a Lima experience on vstmd, so the food you read about is the food a ticket actually lists.
Ceviche: the dish Lima is proud of.
Peru Travel presents ceviche as a source of national pride and names tiradito as the version made without onion. Three experiences on vstmd put ceviche on the table: Ceviche Workshop, where you prepare it yourself; Ceviche, Pisco Sour & Causa + Local Market Tour, which adds causa and pisco sour; and Peruvian Cooking Workshop + Local Market Tour, where ceviche is one of the things you taste.
Causa limeña: potato with a filling.
The same page describes causa limeña as a potato purée stuffed with poultry, seafood, or avocado and tomato. Two tickets name it: Ceviche, Pisco Sour & Causa + Local Market Tour lists causa among the dishes you make, and Peruvian Cooking Workshop + Local Market Tour lists it among the tastings. Ask the provider which filling you will get.
Chicha morada: the purple corn drink.
Peru Travel describes chicha morada as a drink made from purple corn. It appears by name in the inclusions of Peruvian Cooking Workshop + Local Market Tour.
Named by the source, not listed on a ticket we track.
The page also names anticuchos, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, arroz chaufa, picarones and suspiro a la limeña. No Lima product on vstmd lists them by name, so we do not promise them on any tour. Several tickets mention a pisco sour; the page we read does not describe it, so we say nothing about it beyond what each ticket lists.
Dietary needs.
Many Lima classics use seafood, so a food list is no guide to allergies. Confirm substitutions with the provider before you book.
Try the dish, not only the name.
The Ceviche Workshop is the experience on vstmd where you prepare ceviche yourself.
